We saw Valerie and her fine band perform at the Springfield High School auditorium, Holland, Ohio on Friday, May 7, 2010.
Gil Evans
Valerie has played a couple of shows in the Toledo area in past months, thanks to the efforts of Gil Evans, whose brother, Ernie Evans is part of Liberty Pike. Gil is a member of Kentucky Border, which played an opening set last Friday.
Valerie and the band spent a portion of their day teaching students at a nearby school a little about bluegrass.
It is hard to describe a Liberty Pike performance without using the word ENERGY. Sorry to yell, there is just so much going during Val’s shows it is hard to think summon up another word. Big smiles, big instrumentals, innovative arrangements, Valerie always gives it all, and I never tire of watching.
We really enjoyed watching Matt and Jennifer Thacker’s little girl spinning, dancing and enjoying the music. Remember the kids, without them, we have no future. Val is doing just that with her huge commitment to Bluegrass in the Schools.
